2008 Noelex 25 Trailer Yacht Class - National Championships
UPDATE!
Hello Scott, just to let you know that we won the title at Taupo, 14 competitors, 2 South island boats. A 9 race series and our placings were 1,2,1,2,1,1,1,1,1. As we could drop two results we ended up with a perfect score.
Thanks again for weighing the boat.
Cheers
Derek Dumbar
-------------
The Noelex 25 trailer yacht class is the largest trailer yacht class in the country – about 250 boats.
This year the National Championships for the class is being hosted by the Taupo Yacht Club and there is likely to be around 20 boats racing. The class is a strict one design class with all the boats coming from the same mould and size of sails etc and have to be measured to meet certain dimensions.
A recent requirement is that the boats have to meet a minimum weight and have a weight certificate that the boat weights no less than 1080kg.
Grant Sutherland from Katikati has a boat named ‘Legato’ and Derek Dumbar from Tauranga a boat named Que Sera Sera. Both Grant and Derek used to sail these boats 20 years ago and are now getting back into racing in the class.
Grant and Derek wish to thank Scott very much for helping to weigh their boats. Originally the boats were to be weighed at the Harbour Bridge Marina using the Travelift but that became too difficult. At a moment’s notice we phoned Scott to see if he could weigh the boats on his 10 Tonne Mobile crane. True to McLeod Cranes service Scott said ‘ meet me in our Mount Maunganui yard in 15 minutes. Within half an hour both boats were weighed using the crane and a S L LODEC NZ Ltd loadcell.
Thank you Scott for providing an excellent service.
