Crane Signals
To help you we have put together this page on the basic crane signals our drivers are trained to work with.

So how do I control the crane?
This is a question our drivers are often asked. So we have put together this simple page to show you the basic signals.
Our drivers are there to help as part of your team while on site and will happily offer a refresher on signals should you or your staff require it.
In most cases however it is just a matter of pointing.
Print Signals
If you would like a copy to print for your team download one of the PDF files A3 or A4 below.
To view the printable copies you require acrobat reader. All files are under 1.5Mb.

Other Signal Resources
But how does it work in your country?
USA
The US Department of Energy: Office of Health, Safety and Security have published DOE-STD-1090-2004 Chapter 9 on Mobile Cranes - which illustrates crane hand signals.
Canada
The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety has published Crane and Hoist Hand Signals.
Australia
In Australia use Australian Standard AS 2550.1. which you have to purchase. An alternate idea is to look at Easy Guides Australia. Note the use of whistles for signals.
Britain - UK
Ainscough Crane Hire Ltd have a great guide and resource "A Guide to Safe Lifting" which includes signals. Also refer to BS 7121-1 Code of practice for safe use of cranes which you have to purchase. An alternate resource published by the International Association of Oil and Gas Produces is Crane Lifting and Slinging Safe Operating Procedures which references BS 7121-1.
ISO
From the International Organisation for Standardisation I found this publication: Code of Practice for the Safe use of Crane in the Construction Industry which references Ireland and BS 7121-1.
